Grundens. This garment was inspired by the fishermen and sailors of decades past. It was a common sight on the harsh and bitter coasts of Northern Europe where staying dry and warm was imperative. This smock was usually worn over a woolen sweater (today, polyester fleece is better). The Fabric is a waxed cotton duck canvas, treated with wax to become waterproof. It is not designed for machine washing or dry cleaning. Best results come from wiping or brushing. The fabric is tough as nails and gains character with use.
Features: Leather trim applied at all stress points to extend garment wear; large "cul de sac" pocket securely holds tools or supplies when working on fishing gear or going aloft. These tend to run on the small side.
