AIS (Automatic Identification System) is a tool to help avoid collisions & improve overall situational awareness at sea. It tells you the identification, position & intentions of other nearby commercial vessels. Most commercial ships are now required to install AIS transponders, which use VHF frequencies to broadcast critical navigation data.
The Nauticast-B transponder is a plug & play AIS solution. Three sockets suffice to connect power, sensors, and antennas; and initial transponder operation is up and running within minutes. Unlike receive only AIS devices which do not transmit vessel information to surrounding traffic, the Nauticast-B system allows you to virtually participate in neighboring vessels maneuvering activities for collision avoidance. Receives class A and class B transmissions. Transmits class B only. Announce your identity, position, speed and course to oncoming traffic. System includes Class B AIS Transponder, GPS antenna, data/power cables and remote Safety Message Switch. Requires VHF antenna. 7.8"D x 6.2"W x 1.84"H.
